Diamond Street Resource Center grew out of an idea and a desire to help the homeless. Along the way our direction has changed and expanded. DSRC is now a resource center in the Garfield neighborhood that has hosted the annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, become involved in the local community and sought to reach out to neighbors in need.
The DSRC has partnered with the City of Phoenix on the VITA program, providing a location for area residents that qualify, to get free tax preparation assistance. None of it is possible without the help of dedicated volunteers from the Camelback Church members and community!
We also offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. We are currently preparing for the ESL classes and will be looking for volunteers to open and close the building on class days/evenings. As well as folks to keep our grounds looking nice. Spanish speaking/bilingual volunteers are most welcome.
The DSRC has also hosted health fairs, food prep demonstrations, turkey giveaways and hosted a small garden to be used for cooking classes.
As always, we love volunteers and we solicit your ideas for projects. The mission of the Diamond Street Resource Center is to be an an asset to our neighbors and serve the people who live there. Please join us to make a difference.
